Fujifilm Takes Over Google Photos Print Store in the U.S.
Fujifilm has taken over Google Photos' U.S. Print Store, now co-branded as Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store, adding print formats, frames, décor, gifts and pickup options while Google Photos remains the access point.
Users can still order prints through the Google Photos app and website. Google Photos' existing functionality will continue to surface relevant images and suggest personalized print opportunities, the report said. The store now offers an expanded range of print formats, frames, décor and gift items. U.S. users will also be able to pick up select print items at major retail locations.
Google Photos has acted as both a media storage gallery and a gateway to the tech giant's Print Store, letting users order photo prints, photo books and canvas prints directly from the app and the web. Android Authority reported that the underlying printing functionality is not changing, but the business behind the store is.
Fujifilm launched the Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store after assuming leadership and responsibility for the existing platform. The company said it will lead operational and customer support roles for the storefront while remaining in close partnership with Google and Google Photos. The overall experience should feel familiar to users who have used the store before.
Fujifilm said it plans to roll out new features and a more robust user experience in the future. Shimrit Ben-Yair, vice president of Google Photos, said in a statement: “We’re excited to continue our partnership with Fujifilm, providing Google Photos users with a seamless printing experience. The new storefront will offer even more ways for people to print their photos so they can easily celebrate and save their meaningful moments.”
The Fujifilm integration began rolling out to Google Photos users in the United States at the end of August and should now cover all U.S. users, according to Android Authority.
