Galaxy S24 and S25 owners report battery drain after One UI 9

Galaxy S24 and S25 users report battery drain after One UI 9, including one S24 Ultra losing 95% in 3h15m screen-on time.

Samsung recently began rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S25 series and then the Galaxy S24 lineup. The update adds features including Call Brief and My FanCam. The complaints began after that rollout.

A Galaxy S24 Ultra owner on X, cited by SammyFans, reported that the phone’s battery fell 95% with only 3 hours and 15 minutes of screen-on time. The owner had used social media heavily and was on mobile data throughout, according to the report. Samsung later contacted the user to schedule a service appointment at a nearby store.

The complaints are not confined to the S24 series. A Galaxy S25 Plus owner described a similar problem in a post on Samsung’s community forum, cited by 9to5Google. Comments below the post suggested that more than a few Galaxy owners were seeing battery problems, according to the report.

Android Authority also cited a recent Reddit complaint from a Galaxy S24 Ultra user and another from a Galaxy S24 owner who reported significant idle battery drain. An older post from a Galaxy S25 owner mentioned similar issues, and the comments suggested the owner was not alone.

It remains difficult to determine whether the drain is caused by a software glitch that Samsung needs to fix, Android Authority reported. The publication said it had contacted Samsung for clarification on the complaints and would share any response. Software update issues are not rare in the first weeks of a rollout, but a wider pattern of battery loss before and after One UI 9 could be harder for Samsung to ignore, according to the report.

For users seeing battery trouble since the update, Android Authority suggested common steps such as restarting the phone or performing a factory reset after backing up data.
