Galaxy S25 gains S26's Horizontal Lock camera feature with One UI 9 Beta 1

Android Authority reported that X user CID (@theonecid) shared a video showing the feature running on a Galaxy S25 with One UI 9 Beta 1. In the clip, the phone is slowly rotated all the way around while recording, but the resulting footage stays locked upright rather than rotating with the handset.

The arrival of Horizontal Lock on the Galaxy S25 is not entirely unexpected, as the feature had previously been spotted in an internal One UI 9 test build on a Galaxy S25 Plus. That sighting suggested Samsung was preparing to bring the Galaxy S26 feature to its previous flagship generation, though there was no guarantee at the time that it would make it into a public release.

Horizontal Lock debuted on the Galaxy S26 series as part of Super Steady mode. It uses heavy cropping and gyroscope data to keep the video level with the horizon, even if the user tilts or flips the phone while recording.

One UI 9 Beta 1 for the Galaxy S25 series began rolling out today in South Korea, the UK, and India, bringing Android 17. Samsung's official changelog does not detail all the new features, so Horizontal Lock may be one of several S26 additions that become apparent as users spend more time with the beta, according to Android Authority.
