Galaxy S26 beta adds Bixby gesture wake-up and home screen widgets

Samsung's One UI 9 Beta 7 for the Galaxy S26 series introduces Bixby gesture wake-up and new widgets, making the assistant easier to access and use.

The update, rolled out earlier in the day, includes a feature called Gesture wake-up, which lets users trigger Bixby by holding the phone near their mouth and speaking directly into the microphone. This feature was previously introduced with the Galaxy Z8 foldables and has now made its way to the S26 line in this beta release.

Android Authority reports that the new Bixby widgets come in 2×1, 2×2, and 4×2 sizes, making it easier for users to input voice or text commands directly from the home screen. The official changelog for One UI 9 Beta 7 was light on details, but the publication discovered additional features in the build, including My FanCam, Call Brief, Custom Cards in Now Brief, and a split Finder-Google Search search bar.

While the gesture wake-up and widgets are the notable Bixby additions, users will need to enable the feature in settings before using it. The beta release is available for the Galaxy S26 series, with a stable rollout expected at a later date.
