Galaxy S26 FE leak reveals longer battery life but fewer charging cycles
According to Android Authority, European energy labels show the Galaxy S26 FE offers a 50-hour usage rating, but its battery charging cycles drop from 2,000 to 1,200.
The reason for the improved battery backup remains unclear. The report suggests it could stem from a silicon-carbon battery pack, as seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series launched last month, or from the more efficient 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset rumored to power the S26 FE, compared to the 4nm Exynos 2400 in the previous model. Neither explanation has been confirmed.
In contrast, the energy label also reveals a sharp reduction in the battery's charging cycle rating. The Galaxy S25 FE was rated for 2,000 cycles, while the S26 FE drops to 1,200 cycles. One full cycle corresponds to charging from 0% to 100%, and the cycle count indicates how many times the battery can be charged before its capacity falls below 80% of its original level.
The European agency had earlier reported a similar reduction in charging cycles for the Galaxy S26 series models. While the decline is steep, 1,200 cycles should still cover several years of typical usage. However, for those planning to keep the phone for the full seven years of promised software support, the reduced cycle count could be a consideration. The actual battery lifespan depends on individual usage patterns.
Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S26 FE, and these ratings are part of a larger leak. The device is expected to follow a similar launch schedule to the Galaxy S25 FE from last year.
