Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra reportedly get Privacy Display; base models may miss out
A new report says Samsung's Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra will feature Privacy Display, while standard and Plus models may not.
ET News said, citing industry sources, that the Pro and Ultra will have OLED screens using Flex Magic Pixel technology, the underlying innovation for Privacy Display. The outlet said Samsung intends to use the feature in its higher-end lineup to separate those phones from the standard and Plus versions.
“Samsung Electronics plans to include privacy displays in its higher-end lineup to differentiate them from the standard and Plus models,” an industry source told ET News. “Discussions are underway to apply this technology to OLEDs in other devices, such as laptops, starting with smartphones.”
The report appears to contradict an earlier claim that all four Galaxy S27 phones could get Privacy Display, instead pointing only to the Pro and Ultra. Other leaks have described the S27 Pro as having a 6.47-inch display, a 5,200mAh battery, a 200MP main camera and a 12MP 3x camera.
Privacy Display can limit viewing angles for the entire screen, specific areas of the screen or individual apps, making it harder for shoulder surfers to read content on the phone. Some users have reported eye strain and reduced brightness on the S26 Ultra, so Samsung may need to address those concerns before the feature appears on the next two flagships.
