Galaxy Watch restart bug after time zone update: how to fix it

Some Galaxy Watch owners face a boot failure after a time zone update restart. Placing the watch on its charger reportedly revives it. Samsung has not yet issued a fix.

This is a fairly simple fix for a problem that should not exist in the first place, but until Samsung issues a software update for this time zone-related restart bug, this makeshift solution will have to do. The issue appears to affect at least a couple of users on the Samsung community forum, including one on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and another on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. However, widespread reports have not been seen online over the past few days, and it is unclear whether only these models are affected. Android Authority has reached out to Samsung about the glitch and will update the story when they hear back.

A bug like this can be irritating, especially since it seems to be triggered by an innocuous time zone update. For now, users may want to avoid the time zone update-related restart altogether, particularly if they are away from a charger.
