Galaxy Z Fold 8 inner screen corners reported with excessive give
Some Galaxy Z Fold 8 owners say the inner display corners sink when pressed. Android Authority confirmed the softness on a review unit; Samsung has not yet commented whether it is a defect.
The reports appeared on the r/GalaxyFold subreddit, the Samsung EU Community, and through tipster yeux1122. Android Authority says it can confirm that the top-right corner of its own Z Fold 8 loan unit sinks somewhat when pressed. The publication notes, however, that the effect is not as severe as one Instagram video shows, and it was not something noticed during everyday use.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series introduced a Flex Titanium structure that Samsung says is meant to make the folding display stiffer and more durable after repeated folds. A Redditor pointed to a JerryRigEverything teardown showing pads in the corners under the display instead of glue, but Android Authority observes these look like magnets meant to keep the phone closed and may be unrelated to the softness issue.
It remains unclear whether the soft corners are a defect or intended behavior. Android Authority has asked Samsung for an official response and is waiting for a statement. A quick look at online reports suggests the issue does not affect every unit.
