Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Motorola Razr Fold: Android Authority test reveals which foldable to buy
An Android Authority review compares the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with Motorola's Razr Fold, detailing strengths and weaknesses and naming the Razr Fold as the pick for most large-screen foldable buyers.
The review praised the Galaxy Z Fold 8's 5.5-inch cover display and its 7.6-inch inner screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It said media consumption, social media and multitasking feel smooth, and the phone can be rotated to portrait mode when apps do not fit the landscape-dominant inner display. It also cited strong performance from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 12GB of RAM, Samsung's One UI 9 multitasking features and reliable seven-year software support.
However, the review found the Galaxy Z Fold 8's cameras a noticeable step below the Razr Fold's. It acknowledged that camera quality is a common criticism of the phone, especially at its price. The review also noted that the Galaxy Z Fold 8's 4,800mAh battery proved surprisingly solid despite the specification on paper.
About the Motorola Razr Fold, the review described it as the company's first book-style folding phone and said Motorola "gets full marks." It noted the Razr Fold uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset instead of the Elite variant, which the reviewer said does not sacrifice power while allowing 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for the same $1,900 price. The review singled out the Razr Fold's cameras as a key advantage and concluded: "if you're in the market for a larger foldable, it's the one I'd recommend."
