GameNative v1.2.0 adds CPU and GPU clock controls for Samsung Galaxy and handheld devices
GameNative v1.2.0 pre-release adds CPU and GPU clock controls on Samsung Galaxy and AYN/Retroid devices, with preset profiles and manual tuning to manage performance, battery life, and heat.
Android Authority reported on the update on Aug. 19, 2026, after confirming the new controls on a Retroid Pocket G2. The software, designed for installing and playing PC games on Android, now lets users choose among four preset power profiles: Power Save, Balanced, Performance, and WALT. On the test device, the Power Save profile limited the CPU to a maximum of 998 MHz, while the other profiles ran at the maximum frequency but used different minimum clock speeds.
Users who want more control can manually set the minimum and maximum CPU frequencies. They can also select the maximum GPU frequency and adjust the minimum and maximum GPU power. These options are intended to help tune the balance between performance and battery life and to prevent overheating by capping CPU or GPU clock speeds, Android Authority said.
The update builds on earlier power-management features in GameNative, including auto-tuning, fan control with a target temperature, and automatic FPS reduction to maintain a lower but more stable experience.
Other additions in v1.2.0 include faster loading from external storage, a community configuration browser, a favorites tab, and improved frame generation. GameNative also continues to provide access to users’ digital gaming libraries.
