Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition Cut to AU$849 Ahead of Amazon Prime Big Day Deals

The Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition has been cheaper before, according to TechRadar, having fallen to AU$684 in July this year. Even so, the current AU$849 price is half off and delivers what TechRadar describes as most of the core functionality of the Fenix 9 for much less.

Those core features include multi-band GPS tracking, a built-in LED torch, core mapping data and premium materials such as scratch-free sapphire lenses and titanium bezels. The watch launched in 2023, and TechRadar's Garmin Epix Pro review called it 'essentially an AMOLED-screened version' of the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro. The review awarded it 4.5 stars out of 5 and described it as a strong multisport wearable.

TechRadar notes that the Epix Pro introduced features including the Elevate Gen 5 heart rate sensor, Up Ahead, Hill and Endurance scores, and fast charging support. It also offers typical Garmin functions such as sleep scores, VO2 max, notification features, music control, onboard music storage, estimated race prediction times, and maps for golf courses and ski resorts.

By comparison, Garmin's Fenix 9 adds a faster processor, brighter screens, more onboard file storage, improved mapping, a 40m dive certification, built-in speakers and microphones for calls, and new sport profiles. TechRadar says these additions are not necessarily needed by every athlete.

TechRadar's conclusion is that buyers who are not concerned with having all the latest features but want a capable premium watch for summer adventures can choose the Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 at almost half the price.
