Garmin Update Adds All-Day Fall Detection to Venu 4, Expands Features Across Watches
Garmin’s new software update adds all-day fall detection to the Venu 4 and brings voice control and running features to several smartwatches, including the Fenix 8 series, Venu X1, Forerunner 70 and 170. The update is rolling out now to eligible devices.
On the Venu 4, fall detection can automatically send a message with the user’s live location to selected contacts so they can offer assistance. Users can keep the feature active throughout the day or enable it only for specific activities, Android Authority reported.
Garmin watches have offered fall detection before, but the feature could only be turned on during specific outdoor activities. The new update allows Venu 4 users to enable fall detection at all times if they choose.
The same software release also adds voice control and running features to the Fenix 8 series, Venu 4, Venu X1, Forerunner 70, Forerunner 170, and additional Garmin smartwatches. Android Authority did not specify the full list of voice control and running features included in the update.
Garmin is distributing the update now to devices that are eligible to receive it, according to the report.
