Gboard adds fast-typing animation, clarifies Rambler voice mode limits
Android Authority reports Google has created a Gboard animation for high-speed typing, and a company rep says Rambler voice dictation switches to offline mode after usage caps are hit.
Separately, Google has confirmed what happens when users reach the usage limit for Rambler, its voice dictation feature launched earlier this year as part of the Gemini Intelligence suite. A Google representative told Android Authority that Rambler switches to offline mode after users have reached the limit.
The offline mode is effectively the offline voice typing seen on previous Pixel phones, offering basic punctuation, capitalization, and cleanup. Users lose advanced features like removing filler words and awkward pauses, which normally require cloud processing.
Rambler's support page previously noted that the feature relies on the cloud for polished transcriptions but switches to offline models when connectivity is limited or unavailable. It also stated that Rambler is subject to usage limits, without elaborating on the specifics. The representative's response now provides the missing detail.
Android Authority also reported that the animation discovery came from its Authority Insights teardown, but did not say when the animation might roll out to users.
