Gboard may soon let users dismiss clipboard suggestions with a new button

Gboard's latest beta adds a dismiss button for clipboard suggestions, letting users ignore top-bar suggestions without typing, per Android Authority.

The feature adds a cross icon next to clipboard suggestions, as well as alongside the undo and redo buttons that appear in the keyboard’s top bar. Android Authority said that when enabled, users would be able to dismiss those suggestions directly. Currently, the only way to make such suggestions disappear is to type something in the text field, which the report described as annoying.

The dismiss button was discovered through an app teardown, and Android Authority noted that the feature has not rolled out to users yet. Because the button looks simple and fully built out, the outlet said it hopes Google will issue the update quickly rather than stretching it into a phased rollout that takes months to reach everyone.
