TechRadar reports the Geekom A5 2027 Edition mini PC is available for $495 in the U.S. and £423 in the U.K. at Amazon with code TRA527FF, and for less when bought direct from Geekom.

With the code, the 16GB/512GB configuration costs $495 at Amazon.com, down from $549, and £423 at Amazon.co.uk, down from £469. Buying direct from Geekom using the same code brings the price to $478 from $549 in the United States and £426 from £489 in the United Kingdom. TechRadar selected the 16GB/512GB model as the more versatile option, but said a 16GB/256GB version is also available with the promotion. In the U.S., that lower-storage model can save more for users willing to upgrade the SSD themselves; in the U.K., however, TechRadar noted that the 256GB configuration is £30 more expensive at Amazon.co.uk, making the 512GB model the better choice there.

The A5 2027 Edition is built around an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 7730U processor with 16 threads and a maximum boost clock of 4.5GHz. It uses integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics, ships with 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM that can be expanded to 64GB, and includes a 512GB SSD in the configuration highlighted by TechRadar. Storage can be expanded through an M.2 SSD slot, an additional M.2 2242 slot and a 2.5-inch drive bay. The system supports up to four external displays through two HDMI and two USB-C connections, with resolutions up to 8K, and offers Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, 2.5Gb Ethernet and an SD card reader.

TechRadar said the A5 has consistently proved itself as a solid mini PC for work in its tests, and it described the 2027 Edition as no different. The eight-core Ryzen 7 processor, expandable memory and multiple internal storage options provide a versatile foundation for everyday computing, according to the publication. TechRadar said the A5 2027 Edition is best for remote workers, programmers and home office professionals looking for an expandable desktop computer that occupies very little space.

In a four-star review cited by TechRadar, reviewer Mark called the mini PC 'good value, well-made, and a decent user experience.' He added that it is 'a machine that runs cooler and quieter, backed by a new IceBlast 3.0 cooling system that Geekom claims cuts noise to as low as 28dB at idle.' Mark also noted that 'Geekom is now pitching the A5 2027 Edition for 24/7 office and commercial use, rather than as a budget performance desktop.'

TechRadar recommended the device for users who want a compact computer capable of driving a substantial multi-monitor workstation without occupying much desk space. It advised against buying it for work involving demanding 3D rendering, advanced video production or other applications that benefit substantially from dedicated graphics hardware.
