Geely Launches AI Charging System With 2.2 MW Peak Power and a 2027 'County-to-County' Network Target
Geely Auto Group launched its AI-powered Smart Charge system on Sept. 23, 2026, claiming a 2,250 kW single-gun peak, battery temperatures held below 65 C and 20 percent longer cycle life, along with new batteries, charging robots and a 2027 county-coverage plan.
The system runs on the Xingrui PowerMind energy brain, which Geely developed with AI company StepFun and describes as the industry's first full-domain energy model. It incorporates a world behavior model and uses the Xingrui computing center as its hardware base, linking people, vehicles, chargers, cloud, network and storage so that driving scenarios, charging habits, battery health and station conditions are factored into dispatch decisions.
Geely says the AI thermal control function predicts changes in internal battery temperature 30 seconds in advance and reallocates power when overheating is foreseen, keeping average temperature below 55 C. Liquid cooling is fitted at five points, covering the energy storage battery, power conversion module, charging gun, battery pack and charging port. The power conversion module uses a fully immersed DC bus system that Geely says transfers heat more than 30 percent more efficiently than a conventional cold plate.
In testing by CATARC, a Lynk & Co 10 charged from 10 to 97 percent state of charge at a peak of 1,093 kW, spending 57 percent of the session below 55 C and peaking at 64 C, one degree under the 65 C level recommended in the national standard, according to the company. With its AI fast-charge function, the same model goes from 10 to 70 percent in an average of 4 minutes 30 seconds and from 10 to 97 percent in 8 minutes 40 seconds, with average temperature staying under 55 C.
Geely also introduced its new-generation Shenxing Golden Brick ultra-short blade battery series in 395 mm and 370 mm formats. The 395 mm version used in the Lynk & Co 10 has a peak charge rate of 12C, which Geely calls the highest for a mass-produced lithium iron phosphate battery. The 370 mm version peaks at 6C and debuts in the new Geely Galaxy E5, which needs 8 minutes 25 seconds to charge from 10 to 70 percent at room temperature. The Galaxy E5 went on sale at a limited-time introductory price of 97,800 to 137,800 yuan.
For battery health, Geely offers an AI Smart Charge mode that performs maintenance during charging. Using PowerMind's battery life prediction, it monitors internal temperature and lithium plating and adjusts strategy for each individual battery, preheating in cold conditions and intervening early in heat. A lithium-ion pulse repair function injects a small pulsed current near the end of charging to reactivate lithium ions that have accumulated on the anode, a process Geely says raises cycle life by more than 20 percent.
Geely said it will roll out two home charging robots. The 20 kW Geely Smart Charge Robot, described as the world's first mass-produced 20 kW home charging robot, uses monocular vision and AI recognition to locate the charging port and plug in within 30 seconds. A 7 kW unit, which the company calls the world's first bottom-charging robot, moves autonomously using vision and laser positioning and can find the port even when a car is parked at an angle. An existing public solution, the Megawatt Extreme Charge robot, has a peak power of 1.5 MW.
On network build-out, Geely's Haohan Energy has merged the charging maps of Zeekr, Lynk & Co and Galaxy and opened them to all electric vehicle owners. It currently operates more than 2,500 charging stations and 12,000 guns across 232 Chinese cities, including over 1,500 ultra-fast stations and more than 7,000 fast-charging guns. By the end of 2027, Geely plans more than 22,000 stations and 100,000 guns, of which more than 15,000 stations and 50,000 guns will be Smart Charge facilities, achieving county-level coverage nationwide. Longer term, Haohan Energy plans more than 150,000 stations and 600,000 guns, including 100,000 Smart Charge stations.
Geely said buyers of newly launched models equipped with the technology will receive charging benefits of 1,000 yuan per year for two years, or 2,000 yuan in total, if they take delivery before Jan. 1, 2028, and that battery warranty for such vehicles is extended from 8 years or 150,000 km to 8 years or 200,000 km. The company said the technology addresses limits imposed by lithium iron phosphate chemistry, where high-power fast charging can cause overheating, battery damage and faster degradation, as well as uneven charging infrastructure.
