Gemini and Find Hub Can Track Where You Put Passports and Documents

Find Hub is typically used to locate Android phones, tags and other devices. Engadget reported that users can extend it to documents by enabling the service, setting Gemini as the default assistant and then telling Gemini where an item has been stored.

To enable Find Hub, users can download and set up the Find Hub app or go to Settings > Google > All services > Find Hub. To set Gemini as the default assistant, they can open the Google app, tap their profile icon in the top right corner and choose Gemini under Gemini or Google Assistant > Digital assistants from Google.

Once that is done, users can add an item's location by speaking to Gemini. Engadget offered the example: "Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in the vault." Gemini then tells the user that it has saved the location and provides a link to Find Hub from its interface. Tapping the link shows the item details saved in the hub. Users can add a photo of the storage place for better recall, the exact address if they have several hiding places such as multiple homes, PO boxes or bank safety deposit boxes, and more information under notes. They can also add items manually in the Find Hub app by going to the Remembered tab, clicking the plus icon and choosing Manual entry.

To find a document later, users can ask Gemini where it is. If they ask, "Hey Google, where did I keep my passport?", the assistant replies with its latest known location and a link to Find Hub, according to the report. Users can also open the Find Hub app to see all saved items under the Remembered tab. Tapping the item they are looking for shows any uploaded image, its latest location and notes.
