Gemini Can Now Read Google Wallet Passes and Analyze Spending via Plaid, US Only

Google Wallet now connects with Gemini, letting the AI read saved passes and, through Plaid-linked accounts, summarize spending and suggest budgets for US users 18 and older.

The feature was first spotted by 9to5Google, according to Android Authority. With the connection enabled, users can ask Gemini to pull up a boarding pass or find an airline loyalty number instead of opening Wallet and searching for it. If several rewards and loyalty cards are stored in Wallet, Gemini can check them and summarize available offers or benefits.

The financial side requires linking accounts to Google Wallet through Plaid. Once connected, Gemini can use transaction information to answer questions about spending, summarize expenses and suggest budgets. A user could ask how much was spent on groceries last month or request a breakdown of where most money went during the month, rather than scrolling through transactions and adding them up manually.

There are restrictions. The integration is US-only for users aged 18 or older, and it requires a personal Google account with Gemini Apps Activity turned on. Google has not handed Gemini control of users' money: it cannot use payment methods stored in Google Wallet to make purchases, and it cannot update or delete financial accounts connected through Plaid.

The Android Authority report said the convenience may appeal to users who want to ask an assistant about flights, loyalty rewards and monthly spending without switching between apps. The report's writer, however, said they would probably leave this Gemini integration switched off because they are cautious about how much personal information they give to AI and are not comfortable giving Gemini access to financial activity. The writer added that they understand why others might trade some privacy for added convenience.
