GMKtec M8 Mini PC Discounted at Amazon After 4.5-Star Review
TechRadar reported that the GMKtec M8 mini PC, a 4.5-star office machine, is discounted at Amazon to $390 from $480 and in the UK to £370 from £439.
The reviewed configuration includes an AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650H processor, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD. Its port selection includes USB4, OCuLink, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 and dual 2.5G LAN ports in an ultra-compact case. The OCuLink port can be used to attach an external GPU if more graphics power is needed later.
In testing, TechRadar said the M8 "handles productivity with ease" and sailed through Microsoft Office tasks, video calls, browsing and streaming without issue. It also handled reasonably complex edits and batch processes in Photoshop and Lightroom well, with the 16GB of LPDDR5 memory feeling closer to 32GB. The machine struggled with 4K video editing in Premiere Pro, although HD footage felt fine.
TechRadar listed the Amazon price at $389.59 and described the deal as $390, down from $480; the UK price is £370, down from £439. It said this is not the lowest price ever seen for the configuration, which recently dipped to $360, but it is the cheapest current price. GMKtec lists the same machine at a discounted $389.99 on its official site.
TechRadar said buyers should choose the GMKtec M8 if they want real office performance in an ultra-compact case or plan to hook up an eGPU for more creative workloads. It advised skipping it if they want a graphics powerhouse for 3D rendering, complex video editing and gaming, or if they need more RAM than the soldered 16GB provides.
As an alternative, TechRadar pointed to the Geekom A5 2027 Edition, which has an eight-core Ryzen 7 7730U processor, Radeon Vega 8 graphics, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, dual HDMI, dual USB-C, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. TechRadar said the full discount requires code TRA527FF.
