Google Adds Gemini to Sheets on iPhone and AI Recaps to Chat
Google is adding Gemini to Sheets on iPhone and AI meeting recaps to Chat for eligible Workspace subscribers.
According to Android Authority, Gemini in Sheets on iPhone follows its rollout on the web and Android. Users can ask Gemini questions about their spreadsheets, generate summaries, identify trends and create charts without opening a laptop. The report gives the example of an expense spreadsheet: instead of reviewing every transaction, a user can ask Gemini where they have spent the most. For a report, a user can ask it to highlight important trends or turn numbers into a chart that is easier to understand. The feature is rolling out to eligible Google Workspace and Google AI subscribers and could take up to 15 days to reach everyone.
Android Authority also reported that Google Chat will automatically post meeting recaps once a Google Meet call ends. The recaps summarize discussions, decisions and assigned action items, and they appear directly in meeting chats with links to Gemini notes, recordings and transcripts, so participants can catch up without digging through files. The feature builds on Meet's Gemini-powered "Take notes for me" tool, turning its AI-generated notes into a summary that everyone in the meeting conversation can reference. It is rolling out gradually to eligible Google Workspace subscribers.
Both updates are limited to eligible subscribers and use staged rollouts. The Sheets feature has a stated reach window of up to 15 days, while the Chat recap feature is being released gradually, according to the report.
