Google AI Plans Add Premium Colab Compute Benefits

Google AI plans now bundle Colab premium compute perks, with Ultra adding background execution and premium GPUs.

The addition means users can get started with Colab for as little as $4.99 per month through a Google AI plan, according to the report. Standalone Google Colab subscriptions cost $9.99 per month for Pro and $49.99 per month for Pro+. Colab is Google’s browser-based cloud platform for writing and executing Python code with access to GPUs and TPUs, and it does not require installed software.

Google AI Ultra subscribers receive additional Colab perks, the report said. Those include Premium GPU access and uninterrupted background execution. Existing standalone Colab subscribers can stack the benefits: compute units from each subscription are added to the user’s overall balance.

The Colab benefits are available only with paid Google AI plans. Free trials do not qualify, Android Authority reported. The perks are rolling out in Colab-supported countries now, and the report said it can take a few weeks for all benefits to appear in an account.

To get the Colab benefits through a Google AI plan, users should go to the “Colab paid products” link and choose “Upgrade to Google One,” according to the report. The Colab perks are applied automatically once the Google AI subscription is confirmed. Users must use the same Google account for both services and can verify activation by going to Settings > Subscription in Colab.

Android Authority noted that Google AI plans already offer increased access to Google’s most capable AI models, bundled benefits across other Google products, cloud storage, and the option to share a subscription with family members. The new Colab access ties those plans to compute resources that were previously sold as a separate subscription.
