Google Antigravity Lists in Play Store for Googlebooks, Not Android Phones

Google Antigravity is now in the Play Store, but the agent-first development platform is built for Googlebooks and marked incompatible with regular Android phones. Android Authority says a sideload attempt on a Pixel failed during Terminal VM setup.

Android Authority said it sideloaded Antigravity on a Pixel phone to see whether the app could run outside its intended hardware. The interface was poorly scaled on the phone, and setup failed during Terminal VM configuration, according to the report. That attempt left the app unusable on the Pixel.

The Google Play listing describes Antigravity as an agent-first development platform that can create and deploy apps directly on a Googlebook. Its agents can write, edit, and manage code, projects, and files locally, the listing says. The web version of the listing shows the incompatibility as soon as it is opened, according to Android Authority.

Android Authority said the listing is a sign that Googlebook OS, which uses the Android stack, may lead the Play Store to carry more apps that look like Android apps but only work on Googlebooks. It noted that an app's presence in the Play Store usually creates a safe assumption that an Android phone can run it. The Antigravity listing, the report said, makes that assumption less reliable.

The report did not say whether Google plans to make Antigravity available on Android phones, and it did not include a response from Google. For now, the app's Play Store page and its search behavior point to a Googlebook-only release.
