Android Authority reported that Gemini Daily Brief currently generates a static morning recap that cannot be manually updated as a user's day or schedule changes. The feature has been gaining wider access, including availability to free users, and Google has experimented with quick audio briefing shortcuts. But once Daily Brief compiles a morning summary, it remains rigid, the report said.

Code in Google app v17.58.13 indicates Google is working on a new 'Refresh daily brief' option to regenerate Daily Brief content on demand. According to the report, the feature is still in development and is not fully functional yet. It could potentially pull fresh context from a user's calendar, emails, and tasks.

The finding comes from an app teardown, a method that can reveal features under development before they are officially announced. Android Authority described the discovery as part of its Authority Insights coverage, which includes app teardowns, leaks, and other reports. The report did not include an official announcement from Google.

Google has been actively expanding access to Gemini Daily Brief, including making it available to free users and experimenting with quick audio briefing shortcuts, according to Android Authority. The reported refresh option would address one of the biggest annoyances with the feature: its inability to update after the initial morning recap.
