Google developing Gemini-powered 'Call for me' feature for Phone app, report says
Android Authority reports Google is working on a Gemini-powered “Call for me” feature, codenamed “Hedwig,” that could let the Phone app dial customer support and navigate voice menus on the user’s behalf.
The report says users will likely be able to monitor live audio, view real-time transcripts, or take over the call whenever they choose. Android Authority spotted the feature but did not say when it might launch or which devices would receive it first.
The feature is not yet earmarked as a Pixel exclusive. Google continues to gatekeep a lot of handy calling-related features to Pixel phones, and this could follow the same trend, the report says. Pixel devices already include features such as Hold for Me and Direct My Call, which rank among the best Pixel features and take much of the friction out of phone calls. The new Gemini-powered feature could further help make devices like the Pixel 11 series some of the best phones for actual calls, according to Android Authority.
The report comes from Authority Insights, which Android Authority describes as its home for exclusive reports, app teardowns, leaks, and in-depth tech coverage.
