Google Expands Gemini Study Notebooks to Users of All Ages

Google is expanding Gemini study notebooks to users of all ages signed into school or work Google accounts, with administrator approval. The rollout has begun and may take up to 15 days.

The feature is aimed at students who do not know where to start or what to focus on next. It can generate a personalized study plan based on notes, a syllabus and other course materials that a user uploads. Inside the notebooks, users can create new notebooks, take progress check quizzes and work through custom lessons.

A dynamic dashboard sorts goals into categories such as “Strengths” and “Focus areas,” helping users identify gaps in their knowledge. With the expansion, those functions are becoming available to users of all ages on school or work accounts, subject to administrator controls.

Google said the rollout has already begun. The company warned that it could take up to 15 days before the feature becomes visible. An administrator must enable the Gemini app and Gemini Notebook for the account before use.

Study notebooks are available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts. They are not currently available to users in the European Economic Area. Google said support will roll out to the EEA in the coming weeks.

The expansion adds a wider set of education users to a tool Google recently released to help learners organize their study materials. Google has not given a more specific timetable for full availability beyond the 15-day visibility window, and EEA users will need to wait for the regional rollout.
