Google expands Smart Wake alarm to Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4

Google has started rolling out Smart Wake to the Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4 as part of the September 2026 Wear OS 7 update, Android Authority reports. The alarm feature first appeared on the Pixel Watch 5.

Smart Wake monitors heart rate and subtle movement for a 30-minute window before a user's set alarm time. It then wakes the user with gentle haptic vibrations during lighter sleep phases, an approach designed to reduce morning grogginess. Once a Pixel Watch has received the new update, users can access Smart Wake directly inside the Clock app on the watch.

Android Authority reported that the wider rollout was spotted by Reddit user Broad_Magazine2285, with confirmations that the feature is going live on the Pixel Watch 4, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 2. The feature appears to have rolled out as part of the September Wear OS 7 update.

Google had introduced Smart Wake as a quality-of-life feature with the Pixel Watch 5 launch. The expansion brings the same alarm experience to older Pixel Watch models in Google's lineup.
