Google Home users report automations triggered by TV power events failing to run; Google confirms it is investigating the glitch.
According to Android Authority, complaints have surfaced on the Google Home subreddit from users whose automations involving televisions fail to run. Such automations are supposed to start when a connected TV is powered on or off, but Google Home apparently is not recognizing those starter events.
The reports seen so far involve TCL television models, but it remains unclear whether other brands are similarly affected. Google has confirmed that an investigation is underway into the issues with TV-based automations.
The publication notes that Google Home automations are designed to run without manual activation: unlike routines, which users trigger by voice or tap, automations begin automatically when a specified starter event occurs. A TV powering on or off is one such event commonly used to set off multi-device workflows. The current glitch disrupts that behavior, preventing the automated sequences from starting as expected.
