Google Home bug reportedly blocks basic queries such as federal holidays and recipes, limited to older Assistant experience.
Android Authority says multiple Reddit posts describe the problem. One user with an unspecified smart display says Google Home answered “I’m sorry, I don’t understand that” when asked whether Columbus Day is a federal holiday. That user also notes the assistant could not provide a list of federal holidays, though it could define the term “federal holiday.”
Other affected users report that certain requests still work, such as timers and sports scores, but asking for a recipe returns an error. The reports appear to involve users on the older Assistant experience, with no confirmed reports from Gemini for Home.
The new issue follows a recent Google Home problem that prevented users from adding items to lists in Keep, which Google has since fixed.
