The report says the issue has been described by owners on Reddit. Normally, the LED lights on Google Home speakers turn on when the speakers are in use. In the reported cases, however, the lights stay on at all times and pulse. They reportedly turn off after a question is asked, but they return to the same behavior shortly afterward.

A Google Home Mini user shared a clip showing the problem. In the video, all four lights are white and fade in and out. Google's support documentation indicates that such a light pattern would suggest Gemini for Home or Google Assistant is responding. It could also mean the voice assistant detected the wake phrase "Hey Google" and is waiting for a question or command. The report notes that this does not explain why the behavior comes back after a question is asked.

One owner suggested the lights could be a notification. That owner claimed their Google Home Mini was doing something similar until they asked, "What's up?" The device reportedly wanted the user to know that it was Hispanic Heritage Month.

There have been multiple reports of the issue, but it is unclear how widespread it is. The exact cause is also unclear. Android Authority said it had reached out to Google for comment and would update its article when new information became available.
