Google may bring Quick Share AirDrop support to Pixel Tablet and older Pixels

Reports suggest Google's Quick Share AirDrop support is expanding to the Pixel Tablet and older Pixel phones.

According to a tip from Joe Lenington on X, an Android 17-based Google Pixel Tablet now shows a Quick Share interface that supports sharing files with Apple devices. The onscreen prompt suggests the feature was added recently, though the exact timing is unknown. The report notes it cannot confirm whether iPhone users can also send files to the tablet, but there is no obvious reason why receiving would not work.

Separately, Android Authority has received reports of Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 users seeing notifications about Quick Share support for Apple devices. That would mark a meaningful expansion, as the feature previously covered only the Pixel 8a and later model phones, plus the new Pixel 11 family.

Google introduced cross-platform Quick Share with iPhone AirDrop last fall, but access initially varied by device. The feature has been available on Pixel 8a and newer, while Samsung's Galaxy S24 series and later, as well as all foldables released after the Galaxy Z Fold 6, also support it. OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, and HONOR are also listed among supported brands.

The official Quick Share with iPhone FAQ does not yet list the Pixel Tablet, nor does it mention such recent devices as the Pixel 11 series or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, the fine print at the bottom of the page says the feature supports both "mobile devices and tablets," which suggests tablet compatibility may be assumed in the service's rollout. Android Authority cautions that the list may simply be out of date.
