Google may extend Pixel 11's color-matched My Pixel icon to the Pixel 9 lineup

Code in My Pixel app version 8.9.1 points to color-matched icons for the Pixel 9 series, but the Pixel 9a, Pixel 9 Pro Fold and all Pixel 10 models are not yet covered.

The publication, citing its Authority Insights review of My Pixel app version 8.9.1, reported on Sept. 23, 2026, that code in the app indicates the icon could reflect the body color of Pixel 9 devices. Among the colors identified are Hazel, Rose Quartz and Obsidian, all of which were offered on the 2024 flagship lineup.

The support appears incomplete. Android Authority said the Pixel 9a and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are absent from the list, possibly because the work is still in progress. The site also said it could not make the color-based icon appear on its Porcelain Pixel 9 while testing the new app version.

No Pixel 10 models are covered by the in-development feature, the report said, though that could change soon.

Google shipped the updated My Pixel app alongside the Pixel 11 series, adding a search bar and an icon that adapts to the phone's color. The publication said the same treatment has not yet appeared for the Pixel 10 series in the app.

Separately, Android Authority reported that Google appears to be revising the default My Pixel icon for all users. The current design uses a dark blue field with black and purple elements drawn on a Pixel device; a forthcoming version could switch to light blue with a white Google logo for better visibility.

The report noted that My Pixel is not an app users open frequently unless they have just bought a Pixel phone, but said the adjustments suggest Google continues to work on details for its older flagship devices.

Android Authority said it could not confirm the change, and no timeframe has been disclosed for when the Pixel 9 or Pixel 10 series might receive the color-matched icon.
