Google May Let Gemini Call Your Friends and Family Through 'Call for Me'
Google's Call for Me feature on the Pixel 11 lets Gemini phone businesses on a user's behalf. Reporting from Android Authority indicates the company could expand it to personal contacts, letting Gemini relay messages or ask questions.
The publication reported on Oct. 5, 2026 that it had obtained an early look at what could become a substantial expansion of the feature's capabilities. Call for Me, launched with the Pixel 11 phones, already lets users have Gemini call businesses for them. The version described in the report would add support for interactions with the people a user already knows.
According to Android Authority, users could direct Gemini to call contacts in order to share information with them, or to ask a question on the user's behalf and report the answer back. The report did not say when the expanded capability might reach users, which devices it would cover, or whether it has moved beyond internal exploration.
Google has not announced such a change publicly. The report originated from Android Authority's Authority Insights, the outlet's channel for exclusive reports, app teardowns, leaks and in-depth coverage of Android hardware and software. Because the account rests on a single publication's review of unreleased material rather than a company announcement, the scope and timing of any broader contact-calling feature remain unconfirmed.
The existing feature fits into a wider push by assistant makers to take over routine voice communication tasks. Placing calls to businesses to check hours, confirm appointments or ask basic questions is exactly the kind of repetitive work that companies including Google have marketed as suitable for automation. Extending that to acquaintances would place Gemini in a more personal role, speaking to people who know the user rather than to a business's front desk, and the report indicates the assistant would relay whatever information it gathered back to the user.
Android Authority framed the possible expansion as an early indication of where Google may take the product, not as a finished or scheduled release. The Pixel 11 series is where Call for Me debuted, and the reported plans build on that same foundation rather than introducing a separate service.
