Google Photos testing pinned shortcuts for Collections tab

In testing, the publication found that long-pressing folders, albums, or people allowed pinning them to a horizontal scrolling bar at the top of the app. A dedicated Edit menu could let users reorder pinned items or browse organized library categories to customize the view.

Google replaced the classic Library view with the updated Collections tab earlier, promising a cleaner way to organize media. However, the top of the screen has remained largely rigid, with Google automatically selecting which shortcuts to highlight while burying frequently used folders. The company has been testing a cleaner layout for the Collections tab with collapsible sections, and the latest app update reveals the "Pinned" feature in development.
