Google Play Reportedly Works on AI Game Finder With Gamer DNA Profile
Google is reportedly developing Game Finder, an AI-powered Play Store tool that would use a Gamer DNA profile to personalize game recommendations.
Android Authority says it was able to surface the Gamer DNA user interface, but the feature was not functional. According to the report, users could tweak the Gamer DNA profile to fine-tune their feed. Google has not announced Game Finder or Gamer DNA.
The feature would address a longstanding problem in the Play Store: finding a game currently involves scrolling through storefront listings, charts and dedicated sections based on genre. The store offers some personalization through sections such as 'Recommended for you,' but Android Authority describes the overall experience as fairly passive.
Google wants to change that with a discovery tool called Game Finder, according to the report. The tool appears intended to help users who do not know what to play next, rather than only serving users who already have specific games in mind.
That distinction matters because Android Authority has already reported that Google is working on a custom game playlist feature. That tool would let users group and store Play Store games into different categories, but it assumes users already have games they want to save. Game Finder would address the opposite situation: users with no idea what to play.
The report did not say when Game Finder or Gamer DNA might launch. It also did not indicate whether the features would reach all users or remain limited tests. Because the surfaced Gamer DNA interface was not functional, the design and capabilities could change, and Google has not confirmed the project.
