Google Play Services Update Adds NFC Support to Find Hub Trackers
Google Play services v26.39 adds NFC support to Find Hub trackers and simplifies setup, Android Authority reports.
According to Android Authority, the NFC function can help identify a lost tag, which may matter when an item attached to a tracker goes missing. Android Authority described the change as making Find Hub trackers harder to lose for good.
The same update makes setting up Find Hub trackers easier. During registration, users can name tags, choose categories, and enable features such as Left-Behind Reminders, according to Android Authority.
Google also added card artwork and payment network logos to card tokenization notifications in the update. Android Authority reported a smaller attribution change for apps that use Google Maps features.
Android Authority said Google has been steadily turning Find Hub into a more capable alternative to other item-tracking networks. The NFC addition is part of that effort, according to the report.
