Google Raises Pixel 10a Price by $100, Making Mid-Range Phone a Harder Sell

Google quietly raised the Pixel 10a’s U.S. price by $100 to $599, with higher listings also appearing in Canada and the UK, according to Android Authority.

The increase is not limited to the United States. Archived Google Store pages cited by Android Authority show the Pixel 10a was available in Canada for CAD 529 until at least Sept. 22, below its CAD 679 launch price. The same device now costs CAD 849 on Google’s Canadian store. In the UK, the Pixel 10a was listed for GBP 429 until at least Sept. 17, below its GBP 499 launch price, and now costs GBP 599 on the UK Google Store. Those changes suggest similar increases could appear in other regions, according to the report.

At $599 in the U.S., the Pixel 10a is now more expensive at a time when the Pixel 11a is beginning to take shape. Android Authority reported that the Pixel 11a is expected in February or March and is expected to include a Tensor G6 chip, changes to the camera module, a brighter screen, an upgraded selfie shooter, and a new purple colorway. With those upgrades on the horizon, waiting for the Pixel 11a makes more sense than buying the more expensive Pixel 10a, the report said.

The U.S. price increase has already reached Amazon and Best Buy, Android Authority reported. It follows Google’s latest Pixel 11 series debut, which came with a $100 price hike across the board, according to the report. Google has not acknowledged the Pixel 10a increase. The report said soaring component costs, specifically memory, could be the main reason behind it, though the company has not confirmed that explanation.

Google’s decision leaves the Pixel 10a at a higher price than its recent listings and puts it in a tougher position against its own upcoming mid-range model. The reported increase also affects Canada and the UK, where the phone’s current prices are well above recent archived listings.
