Google releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1 with Pixel 11 support

Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1, adding support for the full Pixel 11 range after last week's Beta 6 omitted the newest Pixel phones, Android Authority reports.

The earlier release, Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6, arrived late last Thursday for Google's Pixel testing community. It included builds for the Pixel 6a all the way through the Pixel 10 series, Android Authority reported. Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were not included because those devices are getting too old to be eligible for this release. Pixel 11 owners had expected the new models to appear in the list, but Google did not provide any Pixel 11 builds at the time.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1 now supports the full Pixel 11 range. The Android Authority report focused on that expanded device support, which brings the newest Pixel phones into the same beta release already available to many older Pixel models.

The situation reflects the mixed experience of early adoption. Android Authority noted that users like being first in line for new technology and sometimes gain early access to software built for it. At the same time, developers have more familiarity with older hardware, and preparing software for the newest devices can lead to delays. Pixel 11 owners saw that trade-off after the initial Beta 6 release omitted their devices.

According to Android Authority, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro remain ineligible for this release. The Pixel 6a through Pixel 10 series and the full Pixel 11 range are supported.
