Google Releases Fix for Google Photos Freeze Bug After Editing

Google says it has fixed a Google Photos bug that froze the app after users used its editing tools. The fix is available in the latest Google Photos app version, 7.94.0.988717361.

Users began reporting the problem last week, Android Authority said. After they used the app's editing tools, Photos would freeze and prevent them from taking further action. The issue left users unable to continue editing or use the app normally.

Google previously responded to Android Authority with workaround steps while confirming that work on a proper fix was in development. The company has now returned to the publication to say the issue should be sorted. "We've rolled out a fix for this issue. It is available now in the latest version of the Google Photos app (version 7.94.0.988717361)," Google said, according to Android Authority.

Android Authority advised users who still experience freezes to open the Play Store and install the latest Google Photos update. Once the app is updated to the new build, the publication said, the freezes should, hopefully, be a thing of the past. The fix follows a week of disruption for users who encountered the bug after editing photos.
