Google Releases Workday Add-On for Google Sheets

Google launched Workday for Sheets, linking Adaptive Planning to Sheets and Slides without manual CSV downloads.

Android Authority reported that the add-on lets users perform several tasks without leaving Sheets. Users can ask questions or use suggested prompts to get natural-language summaries and variance analysis, compare plan versions against actuals, and break down performance drivers across time periods and custom dimensions. The add-on also automatically identifies unexpected data points, outliers, and trend shifts across account hierarchies so users can focus on critical variances.

It provides AI-generated charts and tables based on custom queries. Users can switch visualization formats on the fly, copy findings into new spreadsheet tabs for further ad-hoc work, or export directly into Google Slides. It also supports dynamic ad-hoc reporting, allowing users to pull live Adaptive Planning accounts, dimensions, and time periods into Google Sheets, rearrange elements, and refresh reports at any time to reflect the latest model updates.

Workday for Google Sheets is available to users with personal Google accounts, Google Workspace customers, and Workspace Individual subscribers. Google notes that a Workday Adaptive Planning license is required.

The release follows other recent Google Sheets updates. Earlier in September 2026, Gemini became available for the Sheets Android app. That update came days after Google expanded the number of available fonts, Android Authority reported.
