Google Rolls Out 6.144 Pixel Buds Update With Dynamic ANC for Pro 2
Google is rolling out version 6.144 for Pixel Buds Pro, Pro 2 and Buds 2a, adding Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation to the Pro 2 and upgrading Live Translate, voice control and sleep detection across all three models, according to Android Authority.
The Dynamic ANC feature is exclusive to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. It adjusts audio and noise cancellation settings based on how well the earbuds are seated in the user’s ear, making those adjustments dynamically in real time, Android Authority reported.
The same update also upgrades Live Translate, voice control and sleep detection across the Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a. Android Authority reported that Google described the release as “huge” and “massive,” with the core ANC change applying only to the Pro 2.
The release follows a period in which Google did not introduce a new Pixel Buds model alongside the Pixel 11 this past summer. Instead, the company updated the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with a new color and announced a software update intended to enhance ANC performance. The version 6.144 update now extends the feature refresh to additional models, with the promised ANC upgrade leading Google’s list of changes.
Android Authority noted that while new hardware tends to draw attention, a major hardware refresh is not always necessary to generate interest among users. In this case, Google’s update targets not only the Pixel Buds Pro 2 but also the Pixel Buds 2a and the original Pixel Buds Pro.
