Google Rolls Out Fix for Missing Android Auto Signal Bars

Google is rolling out a fix for Android Auto’s missing cellular signal bars, Android Authority reports, but the update is not yet widely available.

The signal bars disappeared earlier this year, and initial reports of the problem came in a little over six months before the Oct. 2 report. The bug became a months-long frustration for Android Auto users. In recent weeks, some users said the bars returned after updating to Android Auto v17.8, but at the time that version was a beta build.

Mishaal Rahman, an Android Authority alum who now works at Google, said the company is currently rolling out the fix. “We’re aware of reports about the missing cellular signal, and we’re actually currently rolling out a fix that should hopefully address this issue!” Rahman said, according to Android Authority.

The fix has not been widely rolled out yet, so it may take a while before it reaches many devices. Rahman added that users who want the fix sooner may want to join the Android Auto beta program.
