Google Rolls Out Pixel Watch 5 Watch Faces to Pixel Watch 4

Google is rolling out several Pixel Watch 5 watch faces to the Pixel Watch 4 through the Google Pixel Watch Faces app, Android Authority reports.

AI News Feed · 2026-10-09 18:45

The rollout is linked to version 4.2.12.989940186 of the Google Pixel Watch Faces app, according to Android Authority. A Reddit user reported receiving the update through the Play Store on a Pixel Watch 4 LTE. The report said the update unlocks several faces introduced with the Pixel Watch 5, including Weave, Chronograph, Multicolor Modular, and Multicolor Reveal.

Android Authority described the rollout as gradual. Some Pixel Watch 4 owners may still need to wait for the Play Store update before the new faces become available on their devices. The report did not give a complete timetable or specify all markets and models that would receive the update at the same time. It also used "reportedly" for the AI watch face generator, indicating that the feature's arrival was not confirmed in the same way as the other faces.

The update follows a pattern in Google's Pixel releases. Android Authority noted that buying the newest Google Pixel hardware usually comes with a brief exclusivity period, with the latest phones and watches getting new features first. The report pointed to Pixel 11 features such as newer Screen Saver options and Proactive Assistance reaching Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 models. It said the Pixel Watch 5 has followed a similar path.

For Pixel Watch 4 owners, the change adds watch faces rather than new hardware. The Google Pixel Watch Faces app is the delivery mechanism, and the Play Store is the distribution channel cited in the report. The faces named in the report are Weave, Chronograph, Multicolor Modular, Multicolor Reveal, and the Stephen Curry face. The AI watch face generator was mentioned as a reported addition, not a confirmed one.

Android Authority based part of its report on a Reddit user's account of receiving the app update on a Pixel Watch 4 LTE. The publication said the rollout appears gradual, so availability may vary by user. It did not provide a statement from Google confirming the rollout or explaining why some devices may receive the update earlier than others.

Editor's Summary

Google is bringing several Pixel Watch 5 watch faces to the Pixel Watch 4 through an update to the Google Pixel Watch Faces app, according to Android Authority. The rollout includes Weave, Chronograph, Multicolor Modular, Multicolor Reveal, the Stephen Curry face, and reportedly the AI watch face generator, but it is gradual and may not reach all users immediately. The update reflects Google's practice of extending select new Pixel features to older devices after a short exclusivity period.
