Google's DevFest Returns With Nearly a Million Developers Expected

DevFest 2026 will run from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, with nearly a million developers expected at more than 800 events across 115 countries. The Google Developer Groups conference will focus on building, securing and scaling in the agentic era.

The 2026 season carries the theme 'Build, Secure, Scale: Developers and Builders in the Agentic Era.' Google said every event will prioritize hands-on experimentation. Attendees will work directly with tools across Google's stack, including Gemini, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Google Cloud, Firebase, Android, Flutter, Angular and Web MCP, through live codelabs, workshops and agent-athons.

The program is organized around three tracks that Google described as core realities for modern software development. The first is that it has never been easier to build, with new tools allowing more people and teams to prototype and deploy faster. The second is that what developers build should be safe and secure, because speed cannot come at the expense of stability; building in the agentic era requires rigorous focus on secure deployment, data privacy and responsible AI guardrails. The third is that builders can work with production-ready infrastructure, with Google providing top-of-class models to help them scale reliably from day one.

DevFest is built by the community, for the community, according to the announcement. Although backed by Google, each Google Developer Group curates its agenda and tailors each event to the specific needs and challenges of its local technology ecosystem. The groups design their DevFests to foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where participants collaborate and improve their skills together.
