Google's Digital Wellbeing app tipped for weekly AI recaps and redesigned UI
Android Authority reports Google is developing a Weekly wrap feature for Digital Wellbeing with Gemini Nano insights, plus UI redesigns for app timers, dashboard, and Bedtime mode.
The report, based on clues found in version 1.47.964183037.beta of the app, reveals a new "Weekly wrap" feature that would summarize a user's phone activity each week and send a notification alerting them to the recap. Instead of simply showing raw numbers, the feature would generate contextual insights with the help of Gemini Nano, Google's on-device language model. All data processing would happen locally on the phone, meaning no usage information would be sent to Google's servers.
Code strings in the beta show notification text such as "You spent %1$s on your phone this week. Get your personalized insights." and include an option to turn off weekly wrap notifications entirely. The feature appears to reuse data Digital Wellbeing already collects and would highlight significant changes compared to the previous week.
The same beta build also points to a broader UI overhaul. The app activity section may see a redesigned dashboard where the screen time selector moves to the side, and usage statistics plus the weekly graph are bundled into a rectangular card. Apps beneath the graph would appear as individual cards rather than a continuous list, with timer and information icons removed to reduce visual clutter.
App timers are also being reworked. Instead of setting timers for one app at a time, the new interface could present a "Use app timers" toggle with an "Add apps" button, letting users select multiple apps simultaneously and assign a shared daily limit. Individual limits could still be adjusted later.
Bedtime mode would receive a smaller but notable change: currently collapsible sections would be expanded by default and no longer collapsible. The Bedtime routine would move to the top, while the Weekly average summary would move to the bottom.
As with all pre-release features, there is no guarantee Google will release these changes, and if they do arrive, they may look or function differently than described.
