Google Search introduces five AI-powered tools for home decor

Google Search has rolled out new features, including AI Mode, Lens, Circle to Search, Search Live, and price tracking, to help users with home decor projects as related searches surge.

One feature, AI Mode in Search, lets users upload a photo of a room and ask for furniture recommendations. For example, a person can ask what kind of couch would fit an 84-inch wall, then follow up to see a mockup of an emerald green velvet sofa in that space. This is designed to help shoppers feel more confident about whether a large piece will work both physically and aesthetically.

Google Lens, another tool, can be used to identify and shop for vintage items. The blog post said “vintage braided rugs” and “vintage wood coffee table” are the top trending home furnishing items this year. By taking a picture of an item with the Google app on iOS or Android, Lens pulls up links to similar products within the user’s price range.

For finding decor from social media or videos, Circle to Search allows users to trace an item on screen and see similar options or ask a question about it. This feature works by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar on the latest Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S26 devices. The post mentioned that searches for fish wallpaper are up 140 percent in the past month.

Search Live offers step-by-step guidance for do-it-yourself projects. Users can open the Google app, tap the Live icon, and ask questions aloud, while enabling video input to share visual context from the camera feed. The post specifically mentioned floating shelves as a top-trending item this year.

To help with budgeting, Google Search also includes price-checking tools. Users can tap a product listing to compare costs across stores, expand a price history drop-down to see if a current listing is high, low, or typical, and set a price alert by tapping “Track price.”
