Google Sheets Gains Native Box and Whisker Charts

Google Sheets adds native box and whisker charts with automatic quartile and outlier calculations, per Android Authority.

Users create the chart by selecting a range of raw numeric values. According to the report, Google Sheets then calculates the minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile, maximum, mean, and outliers automatically. The feature does not require helper formulas.

Box and whisker charts imported from Excel are now preserved, with their data references, calculations, and formatting intact, Android Authority reported. Box and whisker charts are used to show the distribution of data within a population.

The addition brings Google Sheets closer to Excel, where box and whisker charts have long been available. Android Authority reported the update on Oct. 22, 2026.
