Google Slides integrates Vids to turn presentations into AI-powered videos

Google is rolling out Vids inside Slides, letting Workspace users turn presentations into videos with AI editing, scripts, and voiceovers.

According to the report, Google confirmed the rollout in a blog post. With Vids in Slides, users can access the video editing tool directly within the application. A single click records the workflow and generates a shareable link. The integration introduces transcript-based editing and voiceover generation, making it possible to turn simple slide decks into polished, professional video assets within seconds.

The tool also includes options to create short eight-second videos for Instagram Reels, generate multiple clips in parallel, convert any Google Slides deck with a click, storyboard content, draft a script, and insert an AI narrator. Through the recent Gemini Omni integration, users can create or edit videos with natural language prompts.

Google is not removing the legacy recording option for now. Users can still access it via View > Slides Recording, alongside the new Google Vids recording option. This gives users time to transition rather than be forced to switch to something they may not immediately appreciate.

Previously, Slides users had to export files from Google Drive or use screen recording software like OBS to turn presentations into videos. The new integration is rolling out to all Workspace users, including individual subscribers and personal Google accounts.
