Google Teases Fitbit Edge Wearable Ahead of October 12 Reveal
Google teased the Fitbit Edge on Instagram and X, confirming the wearable's name and an October 12, 2026 reveal.
The capitalization of 'Edge' appears to confirm the product name, and October 12 is likely the day Google plans to unveil it. The wearable is rumored to fit between the screenless Fitbit Air that Google launched earlier this year and the more premium Pixel Watch 5.
Images of the new Fitbit device have circulated since at least August, when 9to5Google spotted an unnamed fitness tracker in some of Google's Pixel 11 marketing, according to Engadget. The name was not revealed until Android Headlines shared images of the Fitbit Edge and details of its built-in apps and health tracking features earlier this week. French magazine Dealabs later reported details that confirmed the device's design and name, along with additional information on battery life and possible price.
According to Dealabs, the Edge will reportedly last up to seven days on a charge if its always-on display is disabled and two days if it is on. The device could cost €179, about $200, when it goes on sale in Europe, the report said. Because the Fitbit Air starts at $99 in the US and €99 in Europe, Engadget noted that the new tracker could wind up closer to $180 in the US.
The last similarly sized fitness tracker Google introduced was the Fitbit Charge 6 in 2023, so the company is due for a new release. If the reporting is accurate, Engadget said, the Fitbit Edge appears to be a natural step up from the Fitbit Air and another way for Google to push people toward a Google Health Premium subscription. More will be clear on October 12, when Google is expected to follow through on the tease.
