Google unveils EmbeddingGemma 2 on-device AI model and Mac app for notes
Google has announced EmbeddingGemma 2, a multimodal on-device AI model, and AI Edge Foresight, a Mac app that turns shorthand bullets into formatted notes and answers meeting questions in real time, according to Android Authority.
The AI Edge Foresight app can turn shorthand bullet points into fully formatted notes. It can also detect questions asked during a meeting and generate answers in real time, Android Authority reported. The app is designed for Mac and serves as a showcase for EmbeddingGemma 2.
Because EmbeddingGemma 2 is multimodal, it can look up information from text files, images, video frames, and audio. That range of inputs is central to Google's pitch for the model as an on-device decision engine, according to Android Authority.
The announcement adds to a broader push to run more AI workloads directly on phones and other consumer devices. Perplexity has launched on-device AI assistants, and Google has released models such as Gemma 4 12B specifically for on-device use, Android Authority reported. Google's new model and Mac app extend that effort.
