Google Vids adds 'Docs to Video' to turn documents into narrated summaries
Google Vids now supports converting PDFs, Google Docs and Word files into narrated video summaries, according to Android Authority.
The feature appears as a "Docs to Video" option in the File menu. Users can select a document from Google Drive or upload one from their computer. Vids then analyzes the document, creates a video script and adds voiceover. Users can edit the script or choose a different narration voice before the tool generates a video using AI-generated images and backgrounds.
Google said the capability can be useful for going through long documents without reading them, reviewing lengthy meeting notes or catching up on training materials.
Google has started rolling out the feature, but accounts on scheduled updates may have to wait up to 15 days. "Docs to Video" is available to Google Business, Enterprise and Education plans, as well as to users with Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra subscriptions.
The feature was not fully working during Android Authority's test. The tool read the document and created a script, but displayed an error when asked to generate the video. It was not clear whether the problem was a temporary glitch.
